Letters and Numbers

Letters and Numbers is an Australian game show airing on SBS, hosted by Richard Morecroft with co-hosts David Astle and Lily Serna. Adapted from the French show *Des chiffres et des lettres*, it closely resembles the UK's *Countdown*. The name was chosen to differentiate it from the pre-existing Australian music program, *Countdown*.

1999: Fernando wins Scrabble Masters tournament

In 1999, Fisher and Fernando competed in the Channel News Asia Scrabble Masters tournament held in Singapore, where Fernando won $25,000 and Fisher won $10,000.

December 2010: Letters and Numbers Puzzle Book Published

On December 1, 2010, the Letters and Numbers puzzle book was published, featuring puzzles transcribed from the show's episodes.

May 2012: Lily's Number Puzzles Released

On May 1, 2012, a spin-off puzzle book titled Lily's Number Puzzles, which focused on numbers games, was released.

June 2012: Show Resting and Final Episode

In June 2012, SBS announced its decision to "rest" Letters and Numbers and the final episode aired on June 27, 2012.

July 2012: Letters and Numbers: The Masters DVD Release

On July 4, 2012, a DVD titled Letters and Numbers: The Masters was released, containing all seven episodes of the Masters series.

July 2021: Letters and Numbers Revival Announced

On July 5, 2021, SBS announced that Letters and Numbers would be revived in a new series hosted by Michael Hing.

September 2021: Celebrity Version Revealed

On September 3, 2021, it was revealed that the revival would be a celebrity version of the show, entitled Celebrity Letters and Numbers, and that David Astle and Lily Serna would return to co-host.

October 2021: Celebrity Letters and Numbers Premieres

Celebrity Letters and Numbers premiered on October 2, 2021.

2025: Repeat Episodes Shown

As of 2025, repeat episodes of Letters and Numbers were still regularly shown on SBS.
