A closer look at the defining struggles that shaped Liam Gallagher's life and career.
Liam Gallagher is an English singer and songwriter, most famous as the lead singer of the rock band Oasis, which he co-founded in 1991. After Oasis disbanded, he fronted Beady Eye from 2010 to 2014. He began a successful solo career in 2017. A notable figure in British rock, Gallagher is recognized for his distinctive vocal style and outspoken personality.
In September 1994, Oasis played at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles where the band, using methamphetamine they believed was cocaine, made mistakes and tensions arose on stage between Liam and Noel, leading to Liam hitting Noel in the head with his tambourine.
During an early U.S. tour in 1994, Liam Gallagher made derogatory remarks about Americans and his brother Noel, leading to Noel briefly leaving the band.
During the 1995 recording sessions for (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, a fight broke out between Liam and Noel when Liam invited everyone from a local pub back to the studio, where Noel was trying to work. Noel hit Liam over the head with a cricket bat.
In August 1996, after record-breaking shows at Knebworth, tension between the Gallaghers escalated when Liam backed out of Oasis's MTV Unplugged set minutes before it was due to start. He also refused to travel to America with the band, which caused Noel to fill in for him on the American tour.
In 1998, Liam Gallagher was banned for life from Cathay Pacific after an argument on a flight. Also during the band's Australian tour, he was arrested and charged with assault after allegedly headbutting a fan.
In May 2000, during a tour in Barcelona, a fight broke out between Liam and Noel after Liam made a crude remark about Noel's wife, Meg Mathews, leading to Noel deciding to quit overseas touring with Oasis.
In August 2009, Oasis split up due to Noel's inability to work with Liam any longer, marking the end of the band.
In 2009, prior to Oasis's breakup, Noel described Liam as "rude, arrogant, intimidating, and lazy." An altercation at Rock En Seine in Paris, resulted in Noel's departure from the group.
In 2019, Liam Gallagher revealed that he had begun to suffer from arthritis of the hips and that doctors had advised him to jog less.
Following his headline set at the 2021 Isle of Wight Festival, Liam Gallagher fell out of a helicopter, sustaining cuts and bruises to his face.
Due to injuries sustained from a helicopter fall in 2021, Liam Gallagher delayed his performance at the 2021 edition of the Belsonic festival to the 2022 edition.
