Pragmata

Pragmata is an upcoming action-adventure video game by Capcom, scheduled for release on April 17, 2026. The game centers on Hugh, a spacefarer, and Diana, an android, as they navigate a lunar research station overrun by a hostile AI called IDUS. Their mission is to overcome IDUS and return to Earth. The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Windows, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.

June 11, 2020: Game Announcement

On June 11, 2020, Pragmata was originally announced during Sony Interactive Entertainment's PlayStation 5 reveal stream. It was Capcom's first original franchise in eight years.

January 2021: Release Delayed

In January 2021, Capcom announced that Pragmata was delayed to 2023.

2021: Development insight

In 2021, it was reported that Pragmata looks different from other Capcom titles because it's the brainchild of new development staff. Shoji Kawamori, who handled the Macross series, supervised the world building.

2022: Initial Release Target

Pragmata was initially announced for release in 2022.

June 2023: Indefinite Delay

In June 2023, Capcom released a trailer stating that Pragmata had been delayed indefinitely.

2023: Hair Rendering System

In 2023, Pragmata uses RE Engine's strand hair system which first appeared on shorter hair in titles such as Resident Evil 4 (2023). Further development on the hair strand system to better simulate long hair was prompted by Diana's long hair in Pragmata that needed to accurately move.

June 2025: New Release Window

In June 2025, Capcom announced that the game would be coming out in 2026.

2025: Game Awards Announcement

At The Game Awards 2025, it was announced that Pragmata would release on April 24, 2026 and a demo titled Pragmata: Sketchbook was made available on Steam. It was also announced that the game would be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 and it would also get an Amiibo based on Diana.

February 5, 2026: Demo Release

On February 5, 2026, the Pragmata: Sketchbook demo was released on consoles.

April 17, 2026: Release Date Announced

On April 17, 2026, Pragmata is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 5, Windows, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.
