Real Madrid Femenino is a professional women's football club based in Madrid, Spain, competing in the Primera División, the highest level of Spanish women's football. Originally established in 2014 as Club Deportivo TACÓN, it underwent a merger and acquisition with Real Madrid, becoming the club's women's football section in 2020. This marked Real Madrid's official entry into women's professional football.

1997: First Petition for Women's Football Section

Since 1997, Ana Rossell had petitioned successive Real Madrid presidents to create a women's football section.

2010: Madrid CFF Founded

In 2010, Madrid CFF was founded by Alfredo Ulloa, leading to a rivalry with TACÓN, another club open to a potential takeover by Real Madrid.

2013: Pérez starts considering women's football

In September 2018, Florentino Pérez still ruled out having a women's team, citing concerns about expenses and guaranteed trophies.

May 2019: TACÓN Achieves Promotion

On May 19, 2019, after three seasons in the Segunda División, TACÓN achieved promotion to the Primera División.

June 2019: Real Madrid Proposes Integrating TACÓN

On June 25, 2019, the Real Madrid CF board announced a proposal of integrating TACÓN as their women's football section to be presented to their socios (members).

September 2019: Real Madrid Approves Absorption of TACÓN

On September 15, 2019, The Extraordinary General Assembly of Real Madrid approved the absorption of TACÓN. Florentino Perez cited that TACÓN's youth system was the reason why it was chosen as the base for the women's team.

November 2019: Team Gains Stability

After a poor run with just one win in nine games, in November 2019, TACÓN started to gain a sense of stability, going on a five match unbeaten run.

2019: Cordial Relations Between Clubs

In 2019, Ana Rossell described the relations between TACÓN and Madrid CFF as "cordial."

2019: Merger and Acquisition Process

In 2019, the Club Deportivo TACÓN began a merger and acquisition process with Real Madrid.

2019: Squad Changes
