As a prospect, he was known for his fastball, slider, and changeup, with his slider often considered his best pitch. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, generating deception. Olson was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the second round of the 2018 MLB draft, and was later traded to the Tigers in 2021.
