Rotaract

Rotaract, initiated by Rotary International in 1968, is a global organization for young adults aged 18 and over. It focuses on service, leadership development, professional networking, and community service. With approximately 9,000 clubs and nearly 120,000 members spanning 189 countries and geographic areas, Rotaract provides opportunities for young adults to engage in meaningful projects, develop leadership skills, and contribute to their communities.

1962: Interact Program Created

In 1962, Rotary International created Interact, a high-school level program that was later combined with Rotary to form the name Rotaract.

1968: Rotaract Founded

In 1968, Rotaract began as a Rotary International youth program at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States.

2019: Rotaract Elevated to Membership Type

In 2019, Rotaract transitioned from being a program of Rotary International to a membership type, similar to Rotary clubs, signifying a rise in status.

July 2020: Rotaract Clubs Gain Independence

As of July 2020, Rotaract clubs can exist independently or be sponsored by Rotary and/or Rotaract clubs, marking them as true "partners in service."
