Salman Ali Agha is a Pakistani international cricketer, frequently called Agha Salman. He is a right-handed middle-order batter and right-arm off-break bowler. He represents Pakistan in international cricket and captains their Twenty20 international team. He also serves as the vice-captain of the One Day International team. Domestically, he plays for Southern Punjab and Islamabad United.
In November 1993, Salman Ali Agha was born into a Punjabi Muslim family in Lahore, Punjab. He was raised in Lahore and is fluent in Punjabi, Urdu, and English.
In February 2013, Salman Ali Agha made his first-class debut after playing for Lahore's Apollo Cricket Club for many years.
In April 2018, Salman Ali Agha was named in Federal Areas' squad for the 2018 Pakistan Cup.
In September 2019, Salman Ali Agha was named in Southern Punjab's squad for the 2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tournament.
In January 2021, Salman Ali Agha was named in Pakistan's Test squad for their series against South Africa.
In March 2021, Salman Ali Agha was named in Pakistan's Test squad for their series against Zimbabwe.
In July 2022, Salman Ali Agha made his international debut for the Pakistan cricket team and is currently captain in the T20 format.
In August 2022, Salman Ali Agha was named in Pakistan's ODI squad for their tour of the Netherlands and made his ODI debut during that series.
In December 2022, Salman Ali Agha scored his maiden Test hundred against New Zealand in Karachi. His innings helped Pakistan recover from a top-order collapse.
In May 2023, during the 4th ODI of the New Zealand tour of Pakistan, Agha played a key counter-attacking innings, scoring 58 runs off 43 balls, consolidating Pakistan's dominance. This helped Pakistan secure the No. 1 ODI ranking.
In November 2023, Salman was named in Pakistan's squad for the Australian test tour.
In August 2024, Salman Ali Agha was named in Pakistan's squad for the test series against Bangladesh at home.
In October 2024, during the second Test at Multan, Agha played a crucial counter-attacking half-century, rescuing the team's position. He added 65 runs off 73 balls for the ninth wicket, helping extend the lead. Described as "Pakistan’s get-out-of-jail-free card."
In December 2024, Agha produced an all-round performance against South Africa in an away tour, earning the Player-of-the-Match award. He took 4 wickets and guided Pakistan's chase with an unbeaten 82.
In February 2025, during the Pakistan Tri-Nation Series, Salman scored his maiden ODI hundred against South Africa, hitting 134 off 103 deliveries. Agha was also judged Player of the Series.
