1900: Land agents promote Bear River Valley

Around 1900, land agents began promoting the Bear River Valley to Midwestern farmers as a place to relocate.

1901: Apostolic Christian Church group arrives

From 1901 to 1904, an Apostolic Christian Church group arrived in Tremonton, mainly from Tremont, Illinois, and included families from Ohio and Kansas. The group was mostly of German descent and was known as the "German colony".

1903: Townsite laid out and named Tremont

In 1903, the new townsite was laid out and named "Tremont" at the request of the German colony.

1907: Name changed to Tremonton and Schism of Apostolic Church

Around 1907, the post office renamed the town from "Tremont" to "Tremonton" to avoid confusion with Fremont, Utah. Around the same time, the congregation was caught up in a schism of the Apostolic Church and some members moved back to the Midwest, ending the German colony.

2000: Census of 2000

As of the census of 2000, Tremonton had a population of 5,592 people, 1,698 households, and 1,397 families. The population density was 1,066.8 people per square mile. The racial makeup was 91.52% White, 0.16% African American, 0.45% Native American, 1.13% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 5.22% from other races, and 1.48% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.71% of the population.

April 2008: La-Z-Boy Announces Closure of Tremonton Facility

In April 2008, La-Z-Boy announced the closure of its Tremonton facility and the layoff of all 630 employees. Some of the plant's production was moved to a facility in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.
