Vaccine

A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious or malignant disease. It contains an agent resembling a disease-causing microorganism, often weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its toxins, or surface proteins. The vaccine stimulates the immune system to recognize the agent as a threat, destroy it, and remember it for future encounters, thus providing protection against the disease. The safety and effectiveness of vaccines have been widely studied and verified.
