Verizon strike of 2016

The 2016 Verizon strike, involving roughly 40,000 landline and Fios workers, was a major labor action organized by the IBEW and CWA unions. Starting April 13, it marked the largest US strike since 2011. The strike, characterized by picket lines across the East Coast, addressed job security, outsourcing, healthcare, and retirement benefits. The workers protested Verizon's offshoring of jobs, increased use of non-union contractors, and proposals to freeze pensions and raise healthcare costs. A tentative agreement to end the strike was announced on May 27, addressing some of the union's concerns.
