In 2014, Earth Networks was awarded The Award for Outstanding Services to Meteorology by a Corporation from the American Meteorological Society. This was in recognition of their innovative lightning detection data products, which enhance severe-storm monitoring and warnings.
In November 2016, xAd acquired WeatherBug from Earth Networks, signaling a change in ownership for the weather application.
In June 2017, xAd rebranded itself as GroundTruth, reflecting a shift in the company's focus from advertising to media and data services.
