Carlos Carrasco, nicknamed "Cookie", is a Venezuelan-American professional baseball pitcher currently with the Atlanta Braves. Previously, he played for the Cleveland Indians/Guardians, New York Mets, and New York Yankees in MLB. A right-handed pitcher and batter, he stands at 6'4" and weighs 224 pounds. He is known for his resilience and positive attitude, endearing him to fans and teammates.
On May 15, 1981, Len Barker threw a perfect game. It is used in reference to Carrasco's near no-hitter on July 1, 2015.
In 1987, Carlos Carrasco was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. By the age of 10, he was playing baseball as a third baseman. At 16, he was discovered by a baseball scout and demonstrated a 91 mph fastball for the Philadelphia Phillies scout, Sal Agostinelli. Carrasco also learned to throw left-handed at a young age.
On November 25, 2003, Carlos Carrasco was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an undrafted free agent.
In 2006, Carlos Carrasco played the entire season at the Single-A level with the Lakewood BlueClaws, achieving a 2.26 ERA.
On August 21, 2007, Carlos Carrasco threw his first no-hitter.

On July 29, 2009, Carlos Carrasco was traded by the Phillies to the Cleveland Indians along with Jason Donald, Lou Marson, and Jason Knapp for Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco.
During the 2010 season, Carlos Carrasco had a 2–2 record and a 3.83 ERA in seven starts for Cleveland.
On July 29, 2011, in a game against the Kansas City Royals, Carlos Carrasco was ejected and later suspended by MLB for throwing a pitch at Billy Butler after giving up a grand slam to Melky Cabrera. He was suspended for 6 games and fined.
In September 2011, Carlos Carrasco underwent Tommy John surgery.
Due to Tommy John surgery, Carlos Carrasco missed the entire 2012 season.
On April 9, 2013, in his first start since Tommy John surgery and suspension, Carlos Carrasco was ejected and later suspended for eight games and fined $5,000 by MLB for intentionally throwing at Kevin Youkilis during a game against the New York Yankees.
In the 2014 season, Carlos Carrasco appeared in 40 games for Cleveland and had an 8–7 record with a 2.55 ERA, striking out 140 batters.

On April 7, 2015, Carlos Carrasco signed a 4-year contract extension worth $22 million with club options for 2019 and 2020.
In 2016, Carlos Carrasco made two trips to the disabled list, including a fractured hand in September that forced him to miss the entire postseason. He finished the 2016 season with an 11–8 record and 3.32 ERA.

In the 2020 season with the Cleveland Indians, Carlos Carrasco appeared in 12 games, compiling a 3–4 record with a 2.91 ERA.
On January 7, 2021, Carlos Carrasco was traded by the Indians to the New York Mets along with Francisco Lindor.
