Derek Shelton is an American former minor league catcher and first baseman who transitioned into a professional baseball coach and manager. After his playing career with the New York Yankees organization concluded in 1993, he spent several years coaching and managing within the Yankees' minor league system from 1997 to 2002. In 2003, Shelton began working as a minor league hitting coordinator for the Cleveland Indians. Most recently, he served as the manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates in MLB.
