Gabrielle "Gabby" Giffords is an American retired politician and prominent gun violence prevention advocate. As a member of the Democratic Party, she served as a U.S. Representative for Arizona's 8th congressional district from 2007 to 2012. Her career was tragically cut short when she survived an assassination attempt in 2011, resulting in a severe brain injury.
