Jorge Luis Alcalá is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher currently playing for the St. Louis Cardinals in Major League Baseball (MLB). He debuted in MLB in 2019 and has also played for the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox. His primary role is as a pitcher in professional baseball.
On December 3, 2014, Alcalá signed with the Houston Astros as an international free agent.
In 2015, Alcalá made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Astros, achieving a 2–0 record with a 3.06 ERA and 20 strikeouts over 32+1⁄3 innings pitched.
During the 2016 season, Alcalá split his time between the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Astros, rookie-level Greeneville Astros, and Low-A Tri-City ValleyCats, achieving a combined record of 3–3 with a 2.41 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 15 games.
In 2017, Alcalá played with the Single-A Quad Cities River Bandits and High-A Buies Creek Astros, achieving an aggregate 7–6 record and 3.05 ERA with 95 strikeouts over 22 appearances.
On July 27, 2018, Alcalá and Gilberto Celestino were traded to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Ryan Pressly. He was assigned to the Chattanooga Lookouts.
In 2018, Alcalá started the season with Buies Creek before being promoted to the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks.
On September 14, 2019, the Twins selected Alcalá's contract and promoted him to the major leagues.
In 2019, Alcalá split the minor league season between the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and the Rochester Red Wings, combining to go 6–7 with a 5.47 ERA over 109 innings.

On October 3, 2021, Alcalá notched his first MLB save with 1 1/3 dominant innings, closing out a 7-3 Twins victory over the Royals. Alcala went 1 1/3 innings, allowing no hits, no walks and picking up 3 strikeouts.
On January 13, 2023, Alcalá agreed to a one-year, $790K contract with the Twins, avoiding salary arbitration. He was later placed on the injured list in May with a forearm injury and diagnosed with a radial stress fracture.
On June 11, 2025, Alcalá was traded to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for minor league prospect Andy Lugo.
On August 7, 2025, Alcalá was claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals.
