Kyle Busch is a highly successful American stock car racing driver currently competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Richard Childress Racing. He is a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion (2015, 2019) and the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion. Known for his skill and aggressive driving style, Busch ranks among the all-time leaders in NASCAR Cup Series wins and holds the record for most overall wins across NASCAR's top three divisions. Widely considered one of the greatest drivers of his generation, he is also the younger brother of fellow NASCAR champion Kurt Busch.
In 2001, Kyle Busch was fastest in practice for the Auto Club 200 at California Speedway but was ruled ineligible to compete due to age restrictions related to the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement.
In 2002, NASCAR implemented a minimum age requirement of 18, partly influenced by the Fontana incident involving Kyle Busch. Busch transitioned to the American Speed Association National Tour, finishing 8th in standings, graduated early from High School, and debuted in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
In 2008, Kyle Busch declined an offer to drive for the US-based Formula One team, US F1, citing poor timing, and had to cancel a test drive of a Toyota F1 car due to obligations.
On May 24, 2011, Kyle Busch was cited near Troutman, North Carolina for reckless driving and speeding, going 128 mph in a 45 mph zone while test-driving a Lexus LFA. He later apologized.
On August 23, 2011, Kyle Busch pleaded guilty to speeding, resulting in a US$1,000 fine, a 45-day license suspension, 30 hours of community service, and one year of unsupervised probation.
On April 29, 2014, Kyle Busch was cited for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone on NC 73 in Denver, North Carolina. While he claimed he thought the speed limit was 55 mph, the officer noted his "disrespectful attitude."
In December 2021, M&M's/Mars announced it would end its primary sponsorship with Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing after the 2022 season.
As of the completion of the 2022 Daytona 500, Kyle Busch holds the record for the most lifetime laps led in the race, with 324 laps, without ever securing a victory in the event.
On February 6, 2023, news reports surfaced revealing that Kyle Busch had been arrested in Cancún, Mexico, in January for handgun possession. He was sentenced to 42 months in prison and fined US$1,100, later apologizing for his lack of awareness regarding Mexican laws.
On January 10, 2024, Kyle Busch announced that Rowdy Energy had ceased operations and would close its doors in the following weeks.
In January 2025, Kyle Busch competed in the Chili Bowl Nationals, but failed to qualify for the D-feature.
