Miguel Angel Cardona is an American educator serving as the twelfth United States Secretary of Education since 2021, appointed by President Joe Biden. A Democrat, he was confirmed by the Senate with a 64-33 vote. Before his cabinet position, he was the Commissioner of the Connecticut State Department of Education from 2019 to 2021.
