The OnePlus Nord is a mid-range Android smartphone from OnePlus, released on July 21, 2020, as the first in the Nord series. It marks OnePlus' return to the mid-range market since the OnePlus X in 2015. The phone is available in Europe, India, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Some suggest its availability is focused on markets where outright purchases of affordable smartphones are favored over carrier-subsidized, high-end devices.

In 2015, OnePlus released the OnePlus X, which was their last mid-range smartphone until the OnePlus Nord in July 2020.
On June 30, 2020, OnePlus officially confirmed that their upcoming phone would be named OnePlus Nord, codenamed Avicii after the Swedish DJ Tim Bergling.
On July 22, 2020, one day after the OnePlus Nord's unveiling, OxygenOS was updated to version 10.5.1, improving the depth effect, indoor picture quality, power efficiency when recording at 4K/60 fps, and overall camera experience, system stability, and video calling quality.
On July 27, 2020, reports surfaced indicating that the OnePlus Nord's chassis was susceptible to bending under pressure, potentially causing cracks and display issues.
In August 2020, the Blue Marble variant of the OnePlus Nord with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage was released in India. Also, OnePlus released Oxygen OS 10.5.3, a small update which improved system stability, on August 5th, 2020 and an update that updated the firmware to 10.5.4 was released on August 10th, 2020 which included display and camera improvements, shortened the launch time of the gallery app, and it fixes an issue with background music playing while using the front camera.
On August 10, 2020, the firmware for the OnePlus Nord was updated to 10.5.4, including display and camera improvements, shortened gallery app launch time, a fix for background music issues with the front camera, improved video call quality, color accuracy, white balance in low light, and better color accuracy and saturation for the macro camera.
On September 7, 2020, OxygenOS 10.5.7 rolled out to OnePlus Nord, improving 4K/60 fps stabilization, image clarity for the macro camera, Bluetooth, voice call stability, the display, and power consumption.
On September 30, 2020, OxygenOS 10.5.8 was released in a staggered fashion for the OnePlus Nord. It was a minor update, with increased stability for network, display, and camera OIS.
On March 1, 2021, the OnePlus Nord began receiving its first stable build of Android 11 via an OxygenOS 11 build.
