History of Qatar–United Arab Emirates relations in Timeline
Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, both located in the Persian Gulf region and members of the GCC, share a naval border. However, relations have been strained, particularly since the 2017-2021 diplomatic crisis where the UAE, along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Egypt, severed ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism. This led to a blockade of Qatar, impacting trade, travel, and diplomatic relations. While ties have been restored in recent years, underlying tensions and differing foreign policy approaches still exist.
