St Peters is a suburb located in the Inner West of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Situated 7 kilometers south of Sydney's central business district, it falls primarily under the Inner West Council, with a small portion extending into the City of Sydney. As a primarily residential area, St Peters is known for its proximity to the city center and its blend of historic buildings and modern developments.

1910: Discovery of Paracyclotosaurus davidi skeleton

In 1910, a full, intact skeleton of a Paracyclotosaurus davidi was discovered at the brickworks. This prehistoric amphibian was the only known species to have lived in Australia.

1927: St Peters town hall built

In 1927, St Peters town hall was built in Unwins Bridge Road across the suburb boundary in Sydenham. It now houses the St Peters branch of Inner West Library and a small community centre.

1948: Amalgamation with Marrickville

In 1948, St Peters, which had been a separate municipality since 1871, amalgamated with the Municipality of Marrickville.

1953: Demolition of Barwon Park House

In 1953, Barwon Park House, a large residence erected by Alexander Brodie Spark in 1815 on land leased from Robert Campbell, was demolished.

2023: St Peters Interchange connections

By 2023, the St Peters Interchange will provide connections to western Sydney via the M4-M5 Link tunnel and to Sydney Airport via the Sydney Gateway.
