August 2009: Maiden Test Century

In August 2009, during Bangladesh's tour of the West Indies, Tamim Iqbal scored his maiden Test century, which helped Bangladesh secure a historic victory.

In 2011, Tamim Iqbal was named one of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack's four Cricketers of the Year and Wisden's Test Player of the Year.

March 2012: Asia Cup and IPL contract for Tamim Iqbal

In March 2012, Tamim Iqbal was initially dropped from the Bangladesh squad for the Asia Cup due to typhoid, but was later re-added. He responded by scoring four consecutive half-centuries.
