Tornado Zadar

Tornado Zadar is a registered civil association and supporter group based in Zadar, Croatia. The group primarily supports the KK Zadar basketball team. The organization's official Croatian name is Udruga navijača Tornado Zadar, meaning Civil association of the supporters Tornado Zadar. They are registered with the Croatian NGO register under number 13000768.

1965: Organization of Tornado Zadar

In 1965, Tornado Zadar was organized, marking the beginning of the second oldest supporters association in Croatia, after Torcida Split.

1999: Retirement of core members

In 1999, the core members of the Tornado Zadar association retired, leading to a decline in the association's activity.

2002: Regrouping and Refurbishing of the Association

In 2002, a new generation of supporters started to regroup and refurbish the Tornado Zadar association.

2009: Release of "Posljednja generacija istoka"

In 2009, the book "Posljednja generacija istoka" about the supporter group was released. Only 300 copies of the book were printed and it was not available in bookstores.

2011: Fireworks show for KK Zadar

In 2011, Tornado Zadar organized a fireworks show for their basketball team KK Zadar the day before a big game, to show support. The city walls looked as if they were "on fire".

2011: Charity fundraising for Tihomir Purda's family

In 2011, the Tornado Zadar association organized a charity fundraising event called "Let's help the family of Tihomir Purda" to financially support the family of a war veteran held in custody in Zenica.

2012: Humanitarian aid for war veterans

In 2012, Tornado Zadar supported humanitarian aid to collect financial support for war veterans, who were surviving with €19 per month. The members gave financial as well as material support like hygiene products.

2023: Controversial Chants and Hooligan Attack at Basketball Game

In 2023, during a basketball game against KK Crvena zvezda, Tornado Zadar supporters chanted offensive slogans referencing the mass slaughter of Serbs during WWII. The match was preceded by an attack on a Serbian journalist and a member of the Crvena Zvezda board of directors.
