Örby is a residential area situated in Söderort, Stockholm Municipality, Sweden. Encompassing 159 hectares, it provides housing for 4,720 residents. The area is primarily characterized by its residential nature within the broader Stockholm region.
In 1904, Örby was created as a self-governing village within Brännkyrka Rural District.
In 1912, the sports club Örby IS was founded.
In 1915, Örbyskolan was built, designed by architect Georg A. Nilsson.
In 1930, tram service (line 19, called Örbybanan) began serving Örby.
Georg A. Nilsson, the architect who designed Örbyskolan, passed away in 1949.
In 1951, tram service to Örby ended.
