1995: Starr Park Closure

May 2020: Addition of Brawl Pass

On 14 May 2020, a Brawl Stars game update added the “Brawl Pass”, which functions as a battle pass system where players earn XP to unlock tiers with rewards. Players have access to the free Brawl Pass by default.

June 2020: Release in Mainland China

On 9 June 2020, Brawl Stars was released in mainland China through Tencent Games, with necessary changes implemented to comply with Chinese regulations.

2020: Financial Success in 2020

In 2020, Brawl Stars achieved significant financial milestones, including being the second highest-grossing mobile game in Europe and generating US$526 million in revenue. It also became Supercell's fourth game to surpass US$1 billion in lifetime revenue.

2020: Brawl Stars World Finals 2020

In 2020, the Brawl Stars World Finals were held between 21 and 22 November, featuring a $1,000,000 prize pool. PSG Esports won the championship, which was moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021: Brawl Stars Championship 2021

In 2021, the Brawl Stars Championship started on 20 February, featuring monthly seasons leading to the World Finals held in Bucharest, Romania, from 26 to 28 November. The total prizes included $600,000 for the Monthly Finals and a minimum of $500,000 for the World Finals.

December 2022: Introduction of the Starr Road

In December 2022, Brawl Stars introduced the "Starr Road" as a new progressive unlock system, replacing Boxes as the primary method for unlocking Brawlers. The cost to unlock Brawlers on the Starr Road depends on their rarity.

In December 2022, the Starr Road was introduced as the primary method of unlocking Brawlers in Brawl Stars, following the removal of Boxes. Players can select a Brawler to unlock and progress using Credits, which are obtained through various means such as the Trophy Road and Brawl Pass.

April 2023: Introduction of Bling

In April 2023, Brawl Stars introduced Bling as a currency to buy most cosmetics, replacing Star Points. Players can also use Coins to upgrade Brawlers' stats and buy Brawler-specific upgrades, use Credits to unlock Brawlers, and XP Doublers to speed up progress through the Brawl Pass.

January 2024: Brawl Pass Purchase Change

On 4 January 2024, the Brawl Pass and its new Brawl Pass Plus variant became exclusively purchasable with real money, removing the previous option to purchase with Gems.

February 2024: Chromatic Shop Availability

Until 29 February 2024, players could unlock certain Brawlers in Brawl Stars through the Chromatic Shop using Chroma Credits, which were obtained through the Brawl Pass. Gems could also be used to purchase Chromatics.

2024: Brawl Stars World Finals at Superfest 2024

In 2024, the Brawl Stars World Finals were held in conjunction with the Clash Royale League World Finals and the Clash of Clans World Championship in Helsinki, Finland, during Superfest. The event achieved over a million peak viewers, with team HMBLE taking first place.

February 2025: Ranked System Update

As of February 2025, the Ranked system in Brawl Stars, formerly known as Power League, includes ranks from Bronze to Pro. Players earn Points to increase their rank by winning games in a random 3v3 game mode and map. Reaching new Point thresholds rewards players with pro pass XP and cosmetic items. 9 Brawlers at power level 11 are required to pass into Mythic from Diamond.
