Daniel Susac is an American professional baseball catcher who plays for the San Francisco Giants in Major League Baseball (MLB). He began his MLB career in 2026.
On May 14, 2001, Daniel Shawn Susac was born. He would later become a professional baseball catcher.
In 2019, during his junior year at Jesuit High School, Daniel Susac achieved a batting average of .378 and played in the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game at Wrigley Field.
In 2020, Daniel Susac's senior baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, he switched his college commitment to the University of Arizona after originally committing to Oregon State University.
In 2021, Daniel Susac became Arizona's starting catcher as a freshman, playing in 61 games. He had a slash line of .335/.383/.591 with 12 home runs and 64 RBIs. He was named Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Year, All-Conference, and to the All-Defensive Team. He also played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and the Lincoln Potters of the California Collegiate League.
On March 14, 2022, Daniel Susac was named the National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and Pac-12 Player of the Week after batting .526 with three home runs and 11 RBIs over four games.
In 2022, Daniel Susac was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft with the 19th overall pick and signed with the team for $3.5 million.
In 2023, Daniel Susac started the season with the Lansing Lugnuts and was later promoted to the Midland RockHounds in late August. He played 112 games between the two affiliates, achieving a slash line of .300/.365/.428 with eight home runs and 62 RBI.
In 2024, Daniel Susac returned to the Midland RockHounds, batting .257 with 12 home runs and 50 RBI over 88 games. He also played in the Arizona Fall League after the season.
On December 10, 2025, Daniel Susac was selected by the Minnesota Twins with the fourth overall selection of the Rule 5 draft and subsequently traded to the San Francisco Giants.
In 2025, Daniel Susac was assigned to the Las Vegas Aviators, where he hit .275 with 18 home runs and 68 RBI over 97 games.
On March 25, 2026, the San Francisco Giants announced that Daniel Susac had made the team's Opening Day roster.
On April 1, 2026, Daniel Susac made his major-league debut as a defensive substitute for Patrick Bailey against the San Diego Padres.
