Griffin Canning is an American professional baseball pitcher currently playing for the New York Mets in MLB. He previously played for the Los Angeles Angels, making his MLB debut in 2019. Notably, Canning earned a Gold Glove Award in 2020, recognizing his defensive excellence.

In 2015, Canning made 15 appearances as a freshman at UCLA, with 11 starts, achieving a 7-1 record with a 2.97 ERA and 66 strikeouts.
In 2015, Canning was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 38th round of the Major League Baseball draft but did not sign, opting to play college baseball at UCLA.
In 2017, Canning returned as UCLA's ace pitcher, making 17 starts and achieving a 7-4 record with a 2.34 ERA and 140 strikeouts.
In 2017, the Los Angeles Angels selected Canning with the 47th pick in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft, signing him for a $1,459,200 signing bonus; however, he did not pitch that year.
In 2018, Canning made his professional debut with the Inland Empire 66ers and was later promoted to the Mobile BayBears and the Salt Lake Bees.
On April 30, 2019, Canning was promoted to the major leagues by the Angels and made his debut against the Toronto Blue Jays, recording six strikeouts.

In 2020, Canning won his first Gold Glove Award, finishing the season with a 2-3 record, a 3.99 ERA, and 56 strikeouts.

On August 10, 2021, the Angels announced that Canning would miss the remainder of the season due to a low back stress fracture.

On January 13, 2023, Canning signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Angels, avoiding salary arbitration.
On October 31, 2024, Canning was traded to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for Jorge Soler.
On December 19, 2024, Canning signed a one-year, $4.25 million contract with the New York Mets.
In 2024, Canning made 32 appearances for the Angels, achieving a 6-13 record with a 5.19 ERA and 130 strikeouts.
