The Hyundai Palisade is a mid-size crossover SUV produced by Hyundai Motor Company since late 2018. It replaced the Maxcruz, becoming Hyundai's flagship SUV. On November 28, 2018, the Hyundai Palisade debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, following a preview by Hyundai's Grandmaster concept in June 2018.
Ahead of its official launch, the Hyundai Palisade was first seen by the public in the third and fourth episodes of the Korean drama "Encounter" on December 5-6, 2018.
In late 2018, the Hyundai Palisade, a mid-size crossover SUV, was manufactured and marketed by Hyundai Motor Company, replacing the Maxcruz (Santa Fe XL).
By February 2019, the Hyundai Palisade had sold over 52,000 units in South Korea, exceeding expectations. The high demand caused supply delays throughout 2019, with customers waiting up to 9 months for their vehicles.
In April 2019, the Hyundai Palisade was launched in the Philippines, offered as a sole variant with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine and a 7-seat configuration.
In December 2020, the Hyundai Palisade was launched in the Russian market with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine and a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine rated at 249 hp (186 kW). It was locally assembled at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad.
The Hyundai Palisade was introduced in Indonesia in December 2020, prior to going on sale in January 2021.
In January 2021, the Hyundai Palisade went on sale in Indonesia after its introduction in December 2020. It was offered in Prime and Signature trim levels, with all-wheel drive available only for the Signature trim, and all variants used a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine.
On January 13, 2021, the Hyundai Palisade was launched in New Zealand with two trim levels: Elite (8-seater) and Limited (7-seater). Both trims were available with either a 3.8-litre V6 petrol (2WD) or 2.2-litre turbo-diesel (AWD).
On April 30, 2021, the Hyundai Palisade was launched in Singapore in a sole variant with an 8-seater configuration, using a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine.
In August 2021, the Elite trim level (positioned between the standard and Highlander trims) was added to the Hyundai Palisade lineup in Australia.
On August 13, 2021, the Hyundai Palisade was launched in South Africa. It is offered in a sole Elite trim with available 7- and 8-seater configurations and uses a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine.
On December 16, 2021, the Hyundai Palisade was launched in Malaysia, offered in Luxe and Exec variants with available 7- and 8-seater configurations and two engine options: a 3.8-litre V6 petrol front-wheel drive (Luxe) or 2.2-litre turbo-diesel all-wheel drive (Exec).
In 2021, the Hyundai Palisade was awarded "Top Safety Pick" by IIHS.
Starting with the 2021 model year, the top-of-the-line Calligraphy trim level became available for the Hyundai Palisade in the United States and Canada.
On April 13, 2022, the updated Hyundai Palisade for the 2023 model year debuted for the North American market at the New York International Auto Show. It features a revised front end and an enhanced infotainment system with 12-inch navigation.
On May 19, 2022, the updated Hyundai Palisade was released in South Korea, following its physical release at the 2022 New York International Auto Show. The sound-absorbing material's thickness was increased, the shock-absorbing device was improved, and technologies like Digital Key 2 and second-row ventilation seats became optional.
In July 2022, the facelifted model of the Hyundai Palisade debuted.
In January 2023, the facelifted model of the Hyundai Palisade debuted in Malaysia, featuring the same seating configuration and engine options as the pre-facelift model.
In January 2023, the facelifted model of the Hyundai Palisade debuted in the Philippines, only available on special order.
In February 2023, the facelifted model of the Hyundai Palisade debuted in South Africa.
On September 15, 2023, the Hyundai Palisade was launched in Vietnam as a locally assembled model at the HTMV plant in Ninh Bình. It is offered in Exclusive and Prestige trim levels with 6 and 7-seater configurations and all variants use a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine.
From 2021 to 2023 model years, the Hyundai Palisade was awarded "Top Safety Pick+" by IIHS.
In April 2022, the updated Hyundai Palisade debuted for the North American market for the 2023 model year.
In June 2024, the XRT variant of the Hyundai Palisade was made available.
On December 6, 2024, the second generation Hyundai Palisade was unveiled. Pre-orders began on December 20, 2024.
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade was revealed for the North American market during the New York International Auto Show on April 16, 2025.
On June 13, 2025, the second-generation Hyundai Palisade was launched in Indonesia, with three variants: Signature, Calligraphy and Calligraphy AWD, powered by the Smartstream G 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol hybrid powertrain.
On July 23, 2025, the second-generation Hyundai Palisade was launched in the Philippines, in the sole HEV Calligraphy variant, powered by the Smartstream G 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol hybrid powertrain.
On September 10, 2025, the second-generation Hyundai Palisade was introduced in the Middle Eastern markets.
On September 30, 2025, the second-generation Hyundai Palisade went on sale in Australia, in the sole Calligraphy trim powered by the Smartstream G 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol hybrid powertrain.
On December 12, 2025, the second generation Hyundai Palisade was launched in Brunei, in sole variant: Calligraphy AWD, powered by the Smartstream G 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine powertrain.
In February 2026, the Elite trim powered by the Smartstream G 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol hybrid, only available with the 8-seater configuration, was added to the Hyundai Palisade line-up in Australia.
In March 2026, sales of the Limited and Calligraphy trims of the Hyundai Palisade were halted in the United States, Canada, Korea, and Australia after a child died due to the power-operated rear seats not properly detecting an occupant or object, affecting the second- and third-row seats.
