IEA Solar Heating and Cooling Programme

The IEA Solar Heating and Cooling Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA SHC TCP), established in 1977 under the International Energy Agency, aims to advance solar heating and cooling research and facilitate the global energy transition. It functions as a multilateral Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP). A key output is the "Solar Heat Worldwide" report, offering international solar collector statistics widely used by governments, financial institutions, and NGOs.

1977: IEA SHC TCP Founded

In 1977, the International Energy Agency Solar Heating and Cooling Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA SHC TCP) was founded as one of the first multilateral Technology Collaboration Programmes of the International Energy Agency.

2011: Annual international conference on solar heating and cooling announced

In 2011, the IEA SHC Executive Committee announced the establishment of an annual international conference focusing on solar heating and cooling for buildings and industry.

July 2012: SHC 2012 Conference

The first conference, SHC 2012 took place 9–11 July 2012 in San Francisco.

September 2013: SHC 2013 Conference

The SHC 2013 conference took place on 23–25 September 2013 in Freiburg, Germany, jointly with the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF).

2014: SHC 2014 Conference

In 2014, the SHC conference was held on 13–15 October in Beijing, China.

2015: SHC 2015 Conference

In 2015, the SHC conference was held on 2–4 December in Istanbul, Turkey, jointly with the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF).

2017: SHC 2017 Conference

In 2017, the SHC conference was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, jointly organized with ISES' Solar World Congress.

2019: SHC 2019 Conference

In 2019, the SHC conference was held in Santiago, Chile, jointly organized with ISES' Solar World Congress.

2022: EuroSun 2022 Conference

EuroSun 2022 in Kassel, Germany is the first co-organized EuroSun conference with ISES.

August 2024: EuroSun 2024 Conference

The next joint EuroSun conference with ISES is in August 2024 in Limassol, Cyprus.
