Kymora Johnson is an American college basketball player who currently plays for the Virginia Cavaliers in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). She is a prominent athlete in collegiate basketball.
In 1991, Dawn Staley recorded the last triple-double in program history, until Kymora Johnson recorded a triple double on February 16, 2025.
On September 12, 2022, Kymora Johnson committed to play college basketball at Virginia.
During the 2023–24 season, in her freshman season, Kymora Johnson started all 32 games for Virginia, leading the team in scoring (15.3), assists (5.4), steals (1.8) per game, and minutes played (31:09). She also set the program's freshman record with 172 assists.
In 2023, Kymora Johnson was selected to compete in the McDonald's All-American Girls Game. She also won the JamFest three-point contest that year.
On February 18, 2024, against Syracuse, Kymora Johnson scored 15 points and achieved a season-high of 10 assists, marking her first career double-double.
During the 2024–25 season, in her sophomore season, Kymora Johnson started all 32 games, and averaged 17.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
On February 16, 2025, against Pittsburgh, Kymora Johnson recorded 20 points, 11 rebounds and career-high 11 assists for the second triple-double in program history, and the first since Dawn Staley in 1991.
On December 20, 2025, Kymora Johnson scored a career-high 41 points against Winthrop, with 15-for-20 shooting and 10-for-13 from three-point range. Her 27 second-half points were a program record. She also added six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Her 41 points were the second-most scored in program history.
For the week ending December 22, 2025, Kymora Johnson was named the ACC Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 41 points against Winthrop.
During the second round of the 2026 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament against Iowa, Kymora Johnson scored 28 points and played every minute of the double-overtime upset victory. Virginia became the first First Four team to advance to the Sweet 16 in NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament history.
