Luis Díaz is a Colombian professional footballer renowned for his abilities as a left winger or forward. In 2014, at the age of 17, Luis Díaz attended an open trial hosted by Atlético Junior and impressed enough to join the youth team.
In 2015, Díaz was included in Colombia's 22-man squad for the Copa Americana de Pueblos Indígenas, due to his Wayuu ethnicity.
On 26 April 2016, Díaz made his senior debut for Barranquilla, coming on as a substitute.
In 2016, Díaz joined the senior team of Atlético Junior, being immediately assigned to farm team Barranquilla. He also started a dietary plan to gain 10 kg.
On 6 June 2017, Díaz was promoted to Junior's main squad after making his first-team debut in Copa Colombia.

On 10 July 2019, Díaz signed for FC Porto on a five-year contract for €7 million, rejecting interest from Zenit Saint Petersburg.
