Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a Monsterverse series set after the 2014 Godzilla film, explores the clandestine organization Monarch's encounters with Godzilla and other Titans across five decades. Created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction and produced by Legendary Television, the series delves into the hidden history of Monarch and the secrets surrounding these massive creatures.

1957: Keiko and Shaw's Encounter on the Island

In 1957, Keiko and Shaw observe Titan X and the Scarabs. They are attacked by cultists, injured, and escape into the forest. They have a romantic encounter, but Keiko later sends a letter to Shaw, regretting their affair and reaffirming her love for Bill.

1959: Keiko's Disappearance at the Kazakhstan Power Plant

In 1959, Keiko was lost at the Kazakhstan power plant, which is now enclosed in a containment facility.

1962: Operation Hourglass

In 1962, Shaw leads Operation Hourglass, an expedition into the Hollow Earth. A Titan lure is used to stabilize a tunnel in Kansas, but the tunnel implodes, and Shaw’s team is lost. Monarch's funding is cut. An Ion Dragon kills Shaw's team in Axis Mundi, before he is sucked through another tunnel.

1973: Bill Randa's Encounter on Skull Island

In 1973, Monarch researcher Bill Randa is chased by a Mother Longlegs spider on Skull Island and throws a waterproof case of his files into the ocean.

1973: Bill Randa's Death and Files

In 1973, after sending Hiroshi to stay with Keiko's family, Bill continues his research for Monarch. After his death, all of his files are put into storage.

1990: Kentaro's Birth

In 1990, Hiroshi calls a young Cate to help her fall asleep, while waiting in the hospital for Kentaro's birth. He and Emiko name Kentaro after Hiroshi's birth father.

2013: Discovery of Randa's Files

In 2013, a Japanese fishing boat finds the waterproof case containing Bill Randa's files, which he threw into the ocean in 1973.

2014: Cate Randa Reunites with Her Father

In 2014, following Godzilla's battle with the MUTOs in San Francisco, schoolteacher Cate Randa reunites with her father, Hiroshi, who later disappears in Alaska.

In 2014, following the events of the film Godzilla (2014), the Monarch organization faces new challenges as they encounter Godzilla and other monsters called Titans, across a half century.

2015: Cate and Kentaro Investigate Hiroshi's Affairs

In 2015, Cate travels to Tokyo to settle Hiroshi's affairs, discovering he had a second family. She and Kentaro find Monarch files in Hiroshi's office and recruit May to decode them. Monarch employee Tim is alerted.

2015: Journey to Alaska and Attack by a Frost Vark

In 2015, Cate, Kentaro, May, and Shaw travel to Alaska, aided by Shaw's friend Du-Ho. They find the wreckage of Hiroshi's plane and evidence of his survival. A Frost Vark attacks them, killing Du-Ho and destroying his plane.

2015: Sahara and the Emergence of Godzilla

In 2015, Duvall breaks Shaw out of captivity. They take Cate, Kentaro, and May to the Algerian Sahara, where they find Hiroshi using a Titan lure. Godzilla emerges, causing chaos. Shaw and Duvall intend to help Godzilla, but Cate, Kentaro, and May leave to find Hiroshi. May reveals she allowed Monarch to track them.

2015: Reunion and Shaw's Sacrifice

In 2015, Keiko tells Cate that she found the Operation Hourglass equipment and sent a distress signal. They reunite with May and Shaw. Shaw, Keiko, Cate, and May reconnect the lure to Shaw's old launch vehicle, but lure an Ion Dragon. Godzilla emerges and battles the Dragon, activating the vehicle. Shaw falls and is left behind.

2015: The Group Escapes Monarch and Finds Shaw

In 2015, Kentaro discovers Monarch files indicating Shaw is in an assisted living facility. Cate, Kentaro, and May escape from Tim and Duvall. They find Shaw, who reveals he is under house arrest and convinces them to follow Hiroshi to Alaska.

2015: May's Kidnapping and Release

In 2015, May is kidnapped by Brenda Holland from AET. Cate, Tim, and Kentaro locate May's family. They rescue May, who chooses not to spy on Monarch. Verdugo secures May's release in exchange for Shaw's plans, and Tim convinces Verdugo to take Monarch public. AET rebrands to Apex Cybernetics. Shaw and Duvall seal a tunnel to the Hollow Earth in Alaska.

2015: Escape from the Frost Vark and Rescue

In 2015, Monarch detects the Frost Vark. Cate, Kentaro, May, and Shaw escape, but May develops hypothermia. Kentaro finds a radio station, and the group uses a bonfire to distract the Frost Vark until a helicopter arrives to rescue them. They are taken to a Monarch outpost.

2015: Search for Cate, May, and Shaw

In 2015, Monarch rescues Kentaro and Tim. Cate, May, and Shaw are presumed dead. Kentaro confronts Hiroshi. Shaw and May awaken in Axis Mundi and search for Cate, who is rescued by Keiko from a Bramble Boar.

2015: Return to San Francisco and Hiroshi's Office

In 2015, Natalia Verdugo is frustrated with Shaw's actions and Duvall suggests tracking Cate, Kentaro, and May. Cate convinces her mother to help them reach Hiroshi's local office in San Francisco, where they find maps suggesting he went to Africa in search of Titans. May secretly contacts Duvall.

2015: Confrontation at the Kazakhstan Power Plant

In 2015, Shaw and Duvall return to the Kazakhstan power plant where Keiko was lost. Cate, Kentaro, May, and Tim follow them. Shaw intends to help Godzilla maintain order, but an Endoswarmer emerges. May, Cate, Shaw, and the Endoswarmer fall back into the tunnel before its destruction.

2015: The Randa Siblings Investigate Monarch

In 2015, one year after Godzilla's re-emergence, half-siblings Cate and Kentaro Randa investigate their missing father Hiroshi's connection to Monarch, an organization monitoring giant monsters. The series also explores the early development of Monarch in the past, involving Bill Randa and Keiko Miura, with Lee Shaw as an ally.

In 2015, some of Bill Randa's files, including the one containing Keiko's letter, are stolen by Apex operatives.

2017: Kong Attacks Apex Station

In 2017, Kong attacks the Apex station on Skull Island, causing evacuation. Brenda offers May a job, but she declines. Cate, Kentaro, Hiroshi, and May return to the station. Keiko, Verdugo, and Tim fly back, but Cate launches Shaw's vehicle back to Axis Mundi. Shaw returns to the surface, awakening a tentacled Titan and Scarabs. The Titan kills Verdugo and is chased by Kong.

2017: Tokyo, Apex Infiltration, and Family Revelations

In 2017, Outpost 18 docks in Tokyo. Hiroshi, Keiko and Shaw plan to lure Titan X, but Apex assumes command. Monarch's director orders Tim to take Shaw and Keiko into custody, but he allows them to leave. May infiltrates Apex, Cate returns to San Francisco, and Hiroshi clashes with Keiko, revealing Bill sent him to live with her family.

2017: The Scarab and Titan X

In 2017, Shaw and Keiko recognize the new Titan as the group return to Outpost 18. A Scarab hitches a ride and attacks Cate. The Titan changes course and pursues Outpost 18. Shaw uses a Zodiac to divert the Titan.
