The Warrior's Code

The Warrior's Code is the fifth and bestselling studio album by Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys, released in June 2005. Dedicated to boxer Micky Ward, who is featured on the cover and in the title track, it was their last album with Hellcat Records before they moved to Born & Bred Records. This album marked the debut of band members Tim Brennan and Scruffy Wallace.

August 2004: Tessie Single and Music Video Release

In August 2004, Dropkick Murphys released "Tessie" as its own single and music video. The song was a bonus track on "The Warrior's Code" album.

2004: Release of Tessie EP and Red Sox Win Championship

In 2004, Dropkick Murphys released the "Tessie EP". The same year, the Boston Red Sox won their first championship in 86 years. "Tessie" is a reworking of a Boston Red Sox rally song and was included as a bonus track.

2004: Your Spirit's Alive Songwriting

In 2004, Dropkick Murphys wrote "Your Spirit's Alive" in memory of their friend Greg "Chickenman" Riley, who passed away in a motorcycle accident that year. The song also references Garnet Bailey and Mark Bavis, who died during the September 11 attacks.

June 2005: The Warrior's Code Album Release

In June 2005, Dropkick Murphys released "The Warrior's Code", their fifth studio album and their best-selling one. The album features Micky Ward on the cover and includes the title track about him.

2006: I'm Shipping Up to Boston Single Release

In 2006, Dropkick Murphys released "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" as a single. It later gained popularity after being featured in the movie The Departed and its soundtrack.
