Arik Armstead is an American football defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft after playing college football at the University of Oregon.
Arik Armstead was born on November 15, 1993.
In 2012, Armstead began his college football career at Oregon, playing in 13 games as a true freshman.
Armstead played in 13 games in his sophomore season in 2013 and redshirted his first year with the Ducks basketball team.
Armstead returned to football for his junior season in 2014 and subsequently declared for the NFL Draft.
In 2015, Arik Armstead was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round (17th overall).
On November 8, 2016, the 49ers placed Armstead on injured reserve due to a left shoulder injury. He later underwent surgery to repair the shoulder.
On October 17, 2017, Armstead was placed on injured reserve due to a broken hand, ending his third season prematurely.
The 49ers picked up the fifth-year option on Armstead's contract on April 30, 2018.
In 2019, Armstead had a breakout season, recording 54 tackles, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, showcasing his potential as a dominant defensive player.
Armstead signed a five-year, $85 million contract extension with the 49ers on March 16, 2020.

On March 13, 2024, Armstead was released by the San Francisco 49ers.
Armstead signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on March 15, 2024.
