CBS Sports is the sports programming division of Paramount Global, broadcasting content on CBS, Paramount+, CBS Sports Network, and CBS Sports HQ. Based in New York City, it produces sports broadcasts and related programming. The network is a major player in sports media, delivering content through traditional broadcast and streaming platforms.
In 1981, CBS Sports introduced a logo that would remain in use until 2015.
In 2002, The National College Sports Network was launched.
In 2003, The National College Sports Network was renamed to College Sports Television.
In 2004, CBS purchased SportsLine.com, which became part of CBSSports.com.
In 2005, Viacom, CBS's then-parent company, acquired College Sports Television.
In 2008, College Sports Television was renamed CBS College Sports Network.
In 2011, CBS College Sports Network was rebranded as CBS Sports Network, shifting focus to mainstream sports.
On September 4, 2012, CBS Sports Radio was launched, offering hourly sports news updates.
On January 2, 2013, CBS Sports Radio began offering a full 24-hour schedule of sports talk programming.
On August 31, 2013, CBS Sports rolled out its new graphics package first used in Super Bowl XLVII and switched to a 16:9 aspect ratio letterbox presentation.
On November 30, 2015, CBS Sports unveiled a new rectangular logo, which premiered during Super Bowl 50 coverage.
On February 26, 2018, CBS Sports launched CBS Sports HQ, a 24-hour streaming sports news channel.
At the end of 2019, permission for CBS Sports Radio to use the Eyemark logo was withdrawn.
In October 2020, CBS announced that all major divisions would adopt a unified branding scheme.
In early April 2024, CBS issued a cease and desist order to CBS Sports Radio affiliates, instructing them to stop using the CBS trademark by April 15.
The limited license allowing use of the CBS name and Eyemark logo is set to expire in late 2037.
