Daredevil: Born Again season 2

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 focuses on Matt Murdock/Daredevil's fight against Wilson Fisk, now the mayor of New York City, and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the season continues the narrative from the original Netflix series. Matt Murdock will be gathering allies to resist Fisk's power. Dario Scardapane is the showrunner, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as lead directors for this season produced by Marvel Studios.

March 2022: Daredevil reboot reported

In March 2022, a reboot of Marvel's Netflix television series Daredevil (2015–2018) was reported to be in development with Marvel Studios.

March 2022: New Daredevil series development begins

In March 2022, development on a new Daredevil series began. Charlie Cox was to reprise his role as Matt Murdock / Daredevil. The show began development under Marvel Studios.

July 2022: Born Again announced with 18 episodes

October 2023: Dario Scardapane hired as showrunner

In October 2023, Dario Scardapane, a writer on Netflix's Daredevil spin-off series The Punisher (2017–2019), was hired as showrunner for Born Again. Filmmaking duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were hired to direct the remaining episodes.

August 2024: Nine Episodes Completed

In August 2024, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that nine episodes had been completed that would make up the first season of Born Again, and a second season was planned; with the creative overhaul, the planned 18-episode season had been split into two, nine-episode seasons.

February 2025: Scardapane, Benson and Moorhead Return

In February 2025, Scardapane, Benson, and Moorhead were confirmed to be returning for the second season, with Benson and Moorhead directing the first two episodes. Scardapane said the second season would just be eight episodes, and described its production as a "better-oiled machine".

February 2025: Matthew Lillard Joins the Cast

In late February 2025, Matthew Lillard joined the cast for the season as Mr. Charles, in a recurring role. He called it a "small role right now" and was hopeful the character could return in the future.

February 28, 2025: Principal Photography Begins

On February 28, 2025, principal photography began with Benson and Moorhead, Naim, Barnes, and MacDonald as directors, under the working title Out the Kitchen 2. Hillary Fyfe Spera returned as cinematographer from the first season.

April 2025: Possibility of Defenders Joining Murdock's Army

In April 2025, Scardapane said that Murdock's fellow Defenders from Marvel's Netflix miniseries The Defenders (2017) could join his army.

May 2025: Punisher footage at Disney upfront presentation

Disney's upfront presentation in May 2025 showed footage of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher, leading to speculation that he would appear in the season.

May 2025: Cox and Ritter Appear at Disney Upfront

In May 2025, Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter appeared at Disney's upfront presentation, debuting footage from Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Cox confirmed Daredevil would wear an "iconic" suit featuring the "double D" chest emblem.

May 2025: Final script completed

In May 2025, the final script was completed. Star Charlie Cox applauded the scripts, believing the season had some of the series' best writing and a strong ensemble due to it developing characters who Cox felt were "left behind" in the series' initial iteration.

July 2025: Second Season Filming Concludes

In July 2025, filming for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again wrapped up in New York. Solvan Naim, Angela Barnes, and Iain B. MacDonald were also directing episodes.

September 2025: Third season confirmed

A third season was confirmed in September 2025.

January 27, 2026: Teaser Trailer Release

On January 27, 2026, the first teaser trailer for Daredevil: Born Again was released, featuring Childish Gambino's "Lithonia". The teaser included Foggy Nelson, leading to speculation it was for a flashback.

March 2026: Toby Leonard Moore to Reprise Role

In March 2026, it was revealed that Toby Leonard Moore would be reprising his role as James Wesley from the first season of Daredevil (2015).

March 17, 2026: Daredevil: Born Again Official Podcast Launch

On March 17, 2026, Marvel Television will launch the nine-episode Daredevil: Born Again Official Podcast. The podcast will feature conversations with the cast, crew, and creatives, with the first episode looking back at the series so far and teasing elements of the season. The podcast will be available on Disney+ and YouTube, with an audio-only version on podcast platforms.

March 24, 2026: Season 2 Premiere on Disney+

The second season is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on March 24, 2026, and will consist of eight episodes. It will be part of Phase Six of the MCU.

The creative team were in constant discussions with the filmmakers behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), which includes characters from the season, to ensure events lined up and "impacts are felt" between the two.
