Emeka Okafor is a former American professional basketball player. He achieved early success, winning a national championship with the University of Connecticut in 2004. Drafted into the NBA, he played for the Charlotte Bobcats and earned the Rookie of the Year award in 2005. He was later traded to the New Orleans Hornets and Washington Wizards. A herniated disc sidelined him for four seasons, from 2013 to 2017, before he received medical clearance to resume his career.
UConn will retire Emeka Okafor's No. 50 jersey on February 18, raising it to the Gampel Pavilion rafters. Okafor becomes only the third Husky to receive this honor, cementing his legacy at UConn.
