Marcedes Lewis is a professional American football tight end, currently active in the NFL as of the 2024 season. He played college football at UCLA, where he achieved All-American status. Lewis was drafted in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and is currently the sole remaining active player from that draft class. His longevity in the sport marks a notable career achievement.

In 2001, Marcedes Lewis competed in a nationally televised high school football game against De La Salle of Concord, California, while playing for Long Beach Polytechnic High School.
In 2002, Marcedes Lewis began playing college football for the UCLA Bruins.
In 2005, as a senior, Marcedes Lewis was named a first-team All-Pacific-10 selection, a consensus All-American, and won the John Mackey Award as the top tight end in college football.
In July 2006, Marcedes Lewis signed a five-year, $7.5 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including $4.9 million guaranteed.
In 2006, Marcedes Lewis made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He scored his first professional touchdown in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills and finished the season with 13 receptions for 126 receiving yards and one touchdown.
In the 2007 season, Marcedes Lewis saw an expanded role with the Jaguars, recording 37 receptions for 391 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He started all 16 games.
In 2008, Marcedes Lewis continued to start all 16 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars, recording 41 receptions for 489 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
In the 2009 season, Marcedes Lewis started all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded 32 receptions for 518 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
In the 2010 season, Marcedes Lewis matched the Jaguars single-season touchdown receptions record with 10 and was selected to his first Pro Bowl. He started all 16 games.
On February 24, 2011, the Jaguars placed the franchise tag on Marcedes Lewis.
On August 5, 2011, Marcedes Lewis signed a five-year contract with the Jaguars reportedly worth about $35 million ($17 million guaranteed).
In the final game of the 2012 regular season against the Tennessee Titans, Marcedes Lewis had seven receptions for 103 receiving yards, marking his first game going over the 100-yard mark. He finished the season with 52 receptions for 540 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
In the 2013 season, Marcedes Lewis totaled 25 receptions for 359 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 11 games. The four receiving touchdowns all came in four consecutive games from Week 13 to Week 16.
In the 2014 season, Marcedes Lewis had 18 receptions for 206 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Marcedes Lewis maintained his consistent production in the 2015 season, with 16 receptions for 226 receiving yards in 16 games, all starts.
On March 9, 2016, Marcedes Lewis re-signed a three-year, $12 million contract to remain with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On November 21, 2016, Marcedes Lewis was placed on injured reserve after suffering a calf injury.
In 2017, Marcedes Lewis recorded his first postseason touchdown in the AFC Championship loss to the New England Patriots. During Week 3, he also recorded a career-high three receiving touchdowns.
On March 20, 2018, Marcedes Lewis was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars after 12 seasons with the team.
On May 24, 2018, Marcedes Lewis signed a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Green Bay Packers.
On November 4, 2018, Marcedes Lewis caught his first pass as a Green Bay Packer during a Week 9 loss to the New England Patriots.
On March 18, 2019, Marcedes Lewis re-signed with the Green Bay Packers on a one-year, $2.1 million contract.
On December 1, 2019, Marcedes Lewis caught his first touchdown as a Green Bay Packer, a one-yard reception from Aaron Rodgers, during a Week 13 victory over the New York Giants.
On March 24, 2020, Marcedes Lewis re-signed with the Green Bay Packers on a one-year contract.
On March 30, 2021, the Green Bay Packers re-signed Marcedes Lewis to a two-year, $8 million contract.
In 2022, Marcedes Lewis was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame.
On August 4, 2023, Marcedes Lewis signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears.
