Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., commonly known as Popeyes, is an American multinational chain of fried chicken restaurants that was founded in 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The company is headquartered in Miami and is a subsidiary of Toronto-based Restaurant Brands International. As of 2021, Popeyes operates 3,705 restaurants in over 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and 30 other countries. Approximately 50 of these locations are company-owned, while the majority are franchised.
