Ruth Chepng'etich is a Kenyan long-distance runner, famed for her marathon prowess. She currently holds the world record in the women's marathon, clocking in at 2:09:56 during the 2024 Chicago Marathon, where she earned her third victory at the event. Chepng'etich also won the 2019 World Athletics Championships marathon. She is also the first woman to run marathons in under 2:11 and 2:10. In addition to her marathon achievements, Chepng'etich holds the sixth-fastest women's half-marathon time. It was announced that she was provisionally suspended by the AIU in July 2025 for alleged anti-doping violations.
