Tropical Storm Ivo (2019)

Tropical Storm Ivo, the ninth named storm of the 2019 Pacific hurricane season, originated from a low-pressure area south of Guatemala on August 16. It strengthened into Tropical Storm Ivo on August 21 and peaked on August 22 with 70 mph winds and a pressure of 990 mbar. The storm passed Clarion Island on August 23, generating winds of 60 mph there. Increasing wind shear and cold sea surface temperatures caused Ivo to weaken significantly, degenerating into a remnant low by August 25. The low eventually dissipated into a trough of low pressure on August 27. Although it remained offshore, Ivo brought heavy rainfall to five Mexican states, causing severe flooding.

2018: Ivo Worsens Damage from Hurricane Willa

In 2018, infrastructure previously damaged by Hurricane Willa was further worsened by heavy rainfall and flooding from Tropical Storm Ivo. Plan DN-III-E was activated in five states, and military troops assisted with rescue and cleanup operations after the storm. Collection sites were opened to receive food and supplies.

In 2018, torrential rainfall from Tropical Storm Ivo caused flooding throughout Sinaloa, with El Rosario, Mazatlán, Elota, Mocorito, and Guasave being the most severely affected.
