Tyrod Taylor is a professional American football quarterback currently playing for the New York Jets. He played college football at Virginia Tech. Taylor was drafted into the NFL by the Baltimore Ravens in 2011 during the sixth round.

On September 8, 2007, Tyrod Taylor played his first college football game against the LSU Tigers. He completed 7-of-18 passes for 62 yards, rushed for 44 yards and scored his first collegiate touchdown. He was then named the starter.
In 2007, upon graduating from Hampton, Tyrod Taylor was rated as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback by Rivals.com. ESPN.com ranked him as the No. 3 overall quarterback, while Scout.com recognized him as the nation's seventh-best passer.
During the 2008 season, on October 25 at the Florida State game, Taylor suffered a high ankle sprain and was replaced at quarterback by Sean Glennon. Later, Taylor split time with Glennon and led a crucial fourth quarter against Miami.
In 2008, after Virginia Tech's loss to East Carolina University, Tyrod Taylor's redshirt was removed due to the team's need for more offense. He made his first appearance of the season against Furman, rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown.
On January 1, 2009, Tyrod Taylor led the Virginia Tech Hokies to a 20–7 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats in the 2009 Orange Bowl.
In 2009, during his junior season, Tyrod Taylor led the Virginia Tech Hokies to a 9–3 regular season record. They won the 2009 Chick-fil-A Bowl against the Tennessee Volunteers, finishing with a 10-3 record. Taylor finished the season with 2,311 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
In 2010, Tyrod Taylor's senior season began with two losses, but he led the Hokies to win 11 consecutive games. They became ACC Champions for the fourth time in seven seasons. Taylor was named ACC Player of the Year and ACC Championship Game MVP.
On December 4, 2011, Tyrod Taylor played in his first regular season game for the Baltimore Ravens, rushing for a two-yard gain in a victory over the Cleveland Browns.
