Aldon Smith is a former American football player who played in the NFL. He played college football at Missouri and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2011. Smith was recognized as a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection in 2012. He played as an outside linebacker for the 49ers and later played defensive end for the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys, marking a notable career across multiple NFL teams.

In 2011, Aldon Smith announced that he would forgo his final two years of eligibility and enter the NFL draft.

On September 20, 2013, Aldon Smith was involved in a single-vehicle accident in San Jose, California, and subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.
On October 9, 2013, Aldon Smith was charged with "three felony counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon" relating to a stabbing incident. The charges were later reduced to misdemeanors.
In 2013, Aldon Smith was ranked as the seventh-best player in the league by players on the NFL Network's NFL Top 100 Players of 2013 ranking.
In 2013, after a DUI arrest on September 20 and a loss to the Colts, Aldon Smith voluntarily entered a rehabilitation facility and was placed on the non-football injury list.
On April 13, 2014, Aldon Smith was detained and arrested following an incident at Los Angeles International Airport, resulting in a nine-game suspension.

On September 23, 2017, Aldon Smith agreed to plead no contest to hit and run in the 2015 incident in exchange for the DUI charges being dropped, and he was sentenced to 20 days in jail.
Aldon Smith sat out the entire 2017 NFL season because he was not reinstated by the NFL.
On March 3, 2018, police were called to Aldon Smith's home due to a reported domestic violence incident, after which he fled before police arrived.
On March 5, 2018, the Raiders released Aldon Smith following an alleged domestic violence incident.
On June 11, 2019, Aldon Smith was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Mission, Kansas.
