Andrew Wiggins is a Canadian professional basketball player. He was the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played one year of college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks before entering the NBA. Currently, he plays for the Miami Heat.
On January 27, 2022, Wiggins also became the first No. 1 overall draft pick in the modern draft era (since 1966) to earn his first All-Star selection in his eighth season or later.
Andrew Wiggins became just the second player since the ABA-NBA merger to be drafted as the number one pick, only to be traded afterwards without playing a single game for the team he was originally selected for. Chris Webber was the first following the 1993 draft.

In 2010, during his sophomore year at Vaughan Secondary School, Andrew Wiggins led the school's AAAA basketball team to a 44-1 record, winning the Ontario provincial championship where he scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
In 2011, Andrew Wiggins transferred to Huntington Prep School in Huntington, West Virginia.
In October 2012, Andrew Wiggins announced he would reclassify into his original high school class of 2013, after repeating a grade in middle school, and was immediately ranked as the top prospect by ESPN.
In 2012, Andrew Wiggins led the Canadian junior national team in scoring with 15.2 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game at the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship, helping the team win a bronze medal.
On February 7, 2013, after an article in Sports Illustrated criticized Canadian basketball and Andrew Wiggins' work ethic, he responded by scoring 57 points in a 111-59 win over Marietta College.
In April 2013, Andrew Wiggins played in the Jordan Brand Classic All-American game in Brooklyn, scoring 19 points and tying Julius Randle for the lead scorer on the East team.
