Ariya Jutanugarn is a Thai professional golfer prominent on the LPGA Tour. Hailing from Bangkok, she achieved a historic milestone as the first golfer, regardless of gender, from Thailand to secure a major championship victory. Jutanugarn reached the pinnacle of her career when she ascended to the number one position in the Women's World Golf Rankings in June 2017 solidifying her status as a leading figure in the sport.
In 2012, Ariya Jutanugarn was named the American Junior Golf Association (AFGA) girl Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
In 2016, Ariya Jutanugarn secured her first LPGA Tour win at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic, becoming the first Thai winner on the tour. She then won the next two LPGA tournaments, making her the first player in LPGA history to win her first three titles consecutively. Ariya won her first major championship with a three-stroke victory at the 2016 Women's British Open.
In June 2017, Ariya Jutanugarn became the number one ranked golfer in the Women's World Golf Rankings.
Despite a mid-season slump in 2017, during which Ariya Jutanugarn missed multiple cuts and withdrew from a tournament, she secured her 6th and 7th Tour titles, including the CME Group Tour Championship, where she won $500,000. She had three runner-up finishes, one third place and 10 top-10 appearances with total earnings of $1,549,858, bringing her career total to $4,583,332. This was the second consecutive season she earned over $1,500,000.
On June 3, 2018, Ariya Jutanugarn won the U.S. Women's Open.
On November 18, 2018, Ariya Jutanugarn won the season-long Race to the CME Globe and the $1,000,000 bonus. For the 2018 season, Ariya Jutanugarn won the LPGA Player of the Year, the LPGA Vare Trophy with a scoring average of 69.415, the Leaders Top 10 competition with 17 top-10 finishes and the LPGA money title at $2,743,949. She also set single-season records in rounds in the 60s (57) and birdies (470). She ended the 2018 season ranked number one in the world.
