In 1972, the deadliest blizzard in recorded history struck Iran, resulting in 4,000 reported deaths. The blizzard dropped as much as 26 feet of snow, completely covering 200 villages and burying an area the size of Wisconsin.

It was a large cyclonic storm known for its intensity, size, and wide-reaching effects, eventually stretching from Canada towards Central America and impacting the United States and Cuba.

January 2008: 2008 Afghanistan Blizzard

In January 2008, a fierce blizzard struck Afghanistan, causing temperatures to plummet to −30 °C. Up to 180 centimetres of snow fell in mountainous regions, leading to at least 926 deaths and the loss of over 100,000 sheep and goats, and nearly 315,000 cattle.
