Justin Allgaier is an American professional stock car racing driver. He currently races full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro SS for JR Motorsports. Allgaier also participates part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 40 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, also for JR Motorsports.
On June 6, 1986, Justin Myrl Allgaier was born. He is an American professional stock car racing driver.
In 2003, Allgaier ran additional ARCA races, making six starts in the No. 86 owned by his father Mike. He achieved a sixth-place finish in his second start at Toledo Speedway, and later a third-place finish at Salem Speedway.
In 2004, Allgaier began attending Lincoln Land Community College where he majored in engineering.
In 2005, Justin Allgaier won his first career pole at Springfield, setting a new track record, and had four top-five finishes in ARCA. He also made his NASCAR debut in the Craftsman Truck Series, making four starts in the No. 63 MB Motorsports/Dave Porter Ford, and appeared on Discovery Channel's program Driver X: The Race For The Ride.
In 2006, Allgaier completed his engineering major at Lincoln Land Community College.
In 2006, Allgaier made his first full-time run in ARCA, finishing tenth overall. He achieved his first career win at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack, marking a significant milestone as the first Springfield area resident to win in the history of championship auto racing at the fairgrounds. He also participated in three Truck races for MB, with a twenty-first-place finish at Kansas Speedway.
In 2007, Justin Allgaier won his second career ARCA race at Salem and finished fourth in points. He also achieved two feature wins in a midget car at Angell Park Speedway and secured 3rd place in the Chili Bowl, behind Tony Stewart and J. J. Yeley.
In 2008, Justin Allgaier became the ARCA Re/Max Series champion, marking a significant achievement in his racing career.
In 2008, Justin Allgaier returned for another full season in ARCA, driving for his family team once again. He achieved six race wins, including the final three, and secured the series championship by a slim margin. Allgaier broke Frank Kimmel's eight-year streak of winning the championship in that series. He also returned to NASCAR, finishing 21st in a Truck race at Kentucky Speedway.
During the 2009 NAPA 200 in Montreal, Allgaier caused a wreck that took both him and Ron Fellows out of the race and damaged Kyle Busch's hopes of winning. Subsequently, Allgaier took lessons at Fellows' road racing driving school to improve his road course skills.
In 2009, Justin Allgaier was named the NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year, recognizing his outstanding performance as a newcomer in the series.
In 2010, Allgaier won his first Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 20 and improved to fourth in the standings at the end of the year. He was the highest-finishing series regular in the series standings that year.
In 2011, Justin Allgaier was rumored to be moving up to the Sprint Cup Series with Penske, but due to a lack of sponsorship, he remained in the Nationwide Series. Allgaier moved to Turner Motorsports, driving the No. 31 Chevrolet Impala. He won the inaugural STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway after Carl Edwards ran out of fuel. Allgaier also ran out of fuel but finished first. He almost won at Road America but finished nineteenth.
In 2012, Allgaier returned to Turner Scott Motorsports. He won the NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, after passing Jacques Villeneuve on the final lap.
In 2014, Allgaier missed qualifying for the GEICO 500 for the first time in his Cup career. He later led four laps at Martinsville, finishing seventeenth. Allgaier finished 29th in the Cup Series standings for 2014 and third in the Rookie of the Year standings.
On October 2, 2015, it was announced that Allgaier and HScott Motorsports had parted ways, with Clint Bowyer replacing him in 2016.
On October 28, 2015, Allgaier announced that he would take his sponsor Brandt to drive the No. 7 for JR Motorsports full-time in the Xfinity Series season in 2016, replacing Regan Smith.
In 2015, before his top-ten finish in the 2025 Daytona 500, Allgaier's last top-ten finish in the Cup Series was at Bristol.

In 2016, Justin Allgaier formed a connection with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and signed with JR Motorsports. He started the season with a twelfth-place finish at Daytona. Allgaier picked up two top-tens in the next two races at Atlanta and Las Vegas and finished second at Talladega during the Sparks Energy 300.
In 2016, Justin Allgaier made his Porsche GT3 Cup Brasil debut as a co-driver for a team sponsored by his NASCAR Xfinity Series sponsor, Brandt Agriculture. He made two starts in the Brandt-sponsored No. 7 Porsche with Miguel Paludo as the driver, both of which were in endurance races, the Goiânia and Interlagos races.
In 2017, Allgaier continued with JR Motorsports. He won the DC Solar 200 at Phoenix, making the NASCAR playoffs and also picking up a bonus of $100,000 in the Dash 4 Cash program. His second win of the season came at Chicagoland Speedway in September. Allgaier finished third in the final standings.
In 2018, Allgaier returned in the No. 7 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series season. He picked up his first win of the season at Dover. He led the most laps and won both stages en route to his second win of the season at Iowa, his third win of the season at Mid-Ohio and at Road America two weeks later, he earned his fourth win of the season. He led a race-high 41 laps en route to his fifth win of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Allgaier won the 2018 Regular Season Championship.
In 2019 at Watkins Glen International in August, Ross Chastain sent Justin Allgaier spinning off track. Allgaier retaliated by sending Chastain into the guardrail later in the race.
In 2019, Allgaier participated in the Porsche GT3 Cup Brasil Endurance rounds as Paludo's co-driver. At Goiânia, the team was black-flagged for Allgaier violating track limits.
In 2019, Allgaier won the final race of the Round of 8 at Phoenix to advance to the Championship 4, marking his third appearance in the last four years and his first victory of the season after securing five 2nd-place finishes throughout the year. He concluded the 2019 season fourth in points following a fourteenth-place finish at Homestead.
In 2021, Justin Allgaier recorded only one top-twenty finish in the first four races of the Xfinity season. However, after an eighth-place finish at Phoenix, he secured his first win at Atlanta Motor Speedway, beating out Cup champion Martin Truex Jr.. He then won three races later for the first time at Darlington Raceway.
In 2023, Allgaier started the season with a third-place finish at Daytona, won his first race of the season at Charlotte, and beat Sheldon Creed at the Daytona night race. He also won at Bristol and Martinsville during the playoffs to make the Championship 4, ultimately finishing third at Phoenix and second in the points standings.
After winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in 2024, December 14 is recognized as "Justin Allgaier Day" in Springfield, Illinois.
In 2024, Allgaier started the season with an eighth-place finish at Daytona, dominated at Darlington winning Stages 1 and 2, and won his second race of the season at Michigan. He made the Championship 4 despite not winning a race during the playoffs, and ultimately finished second at Phoenix and claimed his first Xfinity Series championship.
On January 15, 2025, JR Motorsports announced their Cup Series debut in the Daytona 500, with Allgaier driving the No. 40 car and Traveller Whiskey as the sponsor. Allgaier finished ninth, his first top-ten finish since Bristol in 2015, also JRM's first top-ten.
On November 14, 2025, JR Motorsports announced it will enter the 2026 Daytona 500, with Allgaier driving the No. 40 car again and Traveller Whiskey returning as the sponsor.
Following his 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship win, December 9, 2025, is recognized as "Justin Allgaier Day" in the entire state of Illinois.
In 2026, JR Motorsports will enter the Daytona 500, with Allgaier driving the No. 40 car and Traveller Whiskey returning as the sponsor.
On October 25, Allgaier signed a contract extension with JR Motorsports that will last until 2026.
