Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., known as Winn✓Dixie, is a US supermarket chain based in Jacksonville, Florida. With over 546 stores across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, the company's history dates back to 1925, adopting its current name in 1955.

1914: William Davis buys general store

William Davis began his grocery career in 1914 when he purchased a general store, later renamed Davis Mercantile, in Burley, Idaho.

1925: Davis family enters Florida grocery business

In 1925, William Davis and his family moved to Miami, Florida, and purchased the Rockmoor Grocery.

1925: Rockmoor Grocery purchase

William Davis borrowed $10,000 from his father and moved to Miami, Florida, where he purchased the Rockmoor Grocery in 1925.
