Nicholas "Nick" Foligno is an American professional ice hockey player currently playing left wing for the Minnesota Wild in the NHL. He was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the first round, 28th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. After six seasons with Ottawa, Foligno was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he served as captain for several seasons.

In 2000, Foligno participated in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Hershey, Pennsylvania.

On September 24, 2004, Foligno played his first game with the Sudbury Wolves, earning no points in a 3–1 win over the Ottawa 67's.
On September 26, 2004, Foligno registered his first OHL point with an assist in a 6–1 win over the Erie Otters.
On November 20, 2004, Nick Foligno scored his first career OHL goal, beating Kitchener Rangers goaltender Dan Turple in a 6–3 loss.
In 2004, Foligno played in four games with the under-18 team, scoring two goals and one assist.
During the 2005-06 season, Foligno led the Sudbury Wolves with 70 points, including 24 goals and 46 assists, and registered 146 penalty minutes, contributing to the team's post-season appearance.
In 2006, Nick Foligno was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the first round as the 28th overall pick during the NHL entry draft.
In the 2006-07 season, Foligno led the Sudbury Wolves with 31 goals and 88 points, which helped the team clinch a playoff berth. In the post-season, he scored 12 goals and 29 points in 21 games, finishing with the second-highest point total in the league. The team lost to the Plymouth Whalers in six games in the J. Ross Robertson Cup finals.
On March 21, 2007, Nick Foligno agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators.
On October 3, 2007, Foligno played in his first NHL game with the Ottawa Senators, earning no points in a 4–3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
On October 18, 2007, Foligno scored his first career NHL goal and point against Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens in a 4–3 Senators win, performing his father's "Foligno Leap" goal celebration.
On November 16, 2007, Nick Foligno earned his first AHL point in his first game, with an assist in a 6–3 loss to the Philadelphia Phantoms while playing for the Binghamton Senators.
On January 18, 2008, Nick Foligno scored his first AHL goal against Adam Munro of the Syracuse Crunch in a 6–3 win.
On April 9, 2008, Nick Foligno appeared in his first Stanley Cup playoff game, in a 4-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
On April 14, 2008, Nick Foligno scored his first career playoff goal, against Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins, during a 4-1 Senators loss. The Senators were swept in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, and Foligno's goal was his only point of the series.
In 2008-09 season, Nick Foligno played the entire season in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators.
In 2009, Nick Foligno represented the United States in the World Championship, where he recorded two assists in nine games, as the team finished in fourth place after losing the bronze medal game to Sweden.
In 2009, The Ottawa Senators did not qualify for the playoffs.
In the summer of 2009, Foligno's younger brother Marcus was drafted by the Sabres in the NHL entry draft, and Foligno lost his mother, Janis, to breast cancer.
On January 30, 2010, Foligno suffered a broken leg after blocking a shot in a game against the Montreal Canadiens, causing him to miss 21 games during the 2009-10 season.
In the 2010-11 season, Foligno played in all 82 games for the Ottawa Senators.
In the 2011-12 season, Foligno played in all 82 regular season games for Ottawa again.
On July 1, 2012, Foligno was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Marc Methot. Five days later, he signed a three-year contract worth $9.15 million with the Blue Jackets.
During the 2014 playoffs, Nick Foligno scored a notable goal in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He picked up the puck after R. J. Umberger blocked a slapshot, skated down the ice, and shot a knuckle-puck past goaltender Marc-André Fleury for the come-from-behind overtime winner.
On April 4, 2015, Foligno scored his first career NHL hat-trick against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In 2015, Foligno was selected to represent Columbus, along with teammates Ryan Johansen and Sergei Bobrovsky, at the 2015 NHL All-Star Game in Columbus, Ohio. Foligno was also named a captain for Team Foligno during the game.
On February 25, 2016, Foligno recorded 4 points, including his second career hat trick, in a game against the New Jersey Devils, leading the Blue Jackets to a 6–1 victory.
On November 9, 2019, Foligno was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing Colorado Avalanche forward Pierre-Édouard Bellemare, resulting in a three-game suspension.
On February 7, 2021, Nick Foligno scored his 200th career goal in a regular season game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
On April 11, 2021, Foligno was involved in a three-team trade that resulted in him joining the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was initially traded to the San Jose Sharks, then dealt to Toronto in exchange for draft picks.
On July 28, 2021, Foligno signed a two-year, $7.6 million contract with the Boston Bruins as a free agent.
On April 2, 2022, Nick Foligno played in his 1,000th NHL game, which was a Bruins 5-2 home victory over his former team, the Columbus Blue Jackets.
On October 9, 2022, after a disappointing first season with the Bruins, Nick Foligno was placed on waivers by the team, but was brought back after going unclaimed.
On June 26, 2023, Foligno was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks along with Taylor Hall in exchange for Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula.
On January 6, 2024, Nick Foligno was placed on injured reserve (IR) due to a fractured left finger, which he sustained during a fight with New Jersey Devils' defenseman Brendan Smith after Smith broke Connor Bedard's jaw.
On January 12, 2024, Foligno signed a two-year, $9 million extension with the Chicago Blackhawks.
