G2 Esports, a prominent European esports organization founded in 2014 by Carlos "ocelote" Rodríguez Santiago and Jens Hilgers, is based in Berlin, Germany. Initially named Gamers2, it rebranded in 2015. February 2014: Gamers2 Formation

On 3 July 2020, Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks became the fourth player on G2's Valorant team. Then, on 31 July 2020, David "Davidp" Prins, who had been standing in, officially joined the team, contributing to their subsequent four tournament wins.

October 2020: G2 signs NiKo

In October 2020, G2 Esports signed Nikola "NiKo" Kovac from FaZe Clan, reuniting him with his cousin, huNter. Following this, G2 released JaCkz, citing a decision against pursuing a six-man roster.

2020: End of PUBG Rosters

G2 Esports no longer fielded PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds rosters since 2020, they started in 2017.

March 2021: kennyS Benched, JaCkz Returns

On 5 March 2021, G2 benched kennyS from their active roster after a series of underwhelming results. To fill his place, JaCkz was brought back into the active lineup.

March 2021: Rizzo Announces Retirement Plans

On March 18, 2021, during RLCS X, Rizzo announced his plans to retire from professional Rocket League competition. The upcoming Regional Event would be his last event on the roster.

April 2021: Signing of Dennis Lind

On April 12, 2021, G2 Esports signed Danish racing driver Dennis Lind as Sim Racing Lead.

May 2021: Reveal of G2 Atlantis

Leading up to the reveal of G2 Atlantis on May 31, 2021, various Fortnite players in both Europe and North America were signed.

June 2021: Valorant Roster Changes

Following early domination, G2 benched Davidp after falling in the semi-finals to Team Heretics. Further struggles in 2021 saw G2 part ways with zeek, ardiis and paTiTek. Žygimantas "nukkye" Chmieliauskas, Auni "AvovA" Chahade and Jose Luis "koldamenta" Aranguren Herrero were added, and Cista "keloqz" Wassim was announced on 25 June 2021 following pyth's decision to bench himself two weeks previously.

June 2021: Roster Revamp After Underwhelming Performance

On 10 June 2021, G2 Esports announced a roster revamp after underwhelming performances at the Six Invitational 2021. Kantoraketti and UUNO were benched, while Lucas "Hungry" Reich and Jonas "Jonka" Kaczmarzyk were introduced as new players.

June 2021: Return to Apex Legends

On June 1, 2021, G2 Esports returned to the Apex Legends scene by signing the former AimAssist roster alongside new manager Christopher "BixLe" Dunbar.
