David Wright is a retired American professional baseball third baseman who played his entire 14-year MLB career with the New York Mets. Drafted by the Mets in 2001, he debuted in MLB on July 21, 2004. Wright also represented the United States in international competition. Notably, he earned the nickname "Captain America" following his performance in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, where he led the tournament in RBIs and was named to the All-World Baseball Classic Team.
